My Dissertation
In 2007 I wrote my dissertation "Colour Grading - Opportunities and Challenges in the Transition from Film Lab Based Colour Timing to Data-Centric Grading".
It will give you a very good introduction into colour theory, the process of film development, colour timing in the film lab and the new process of digital colour grading. If you want to get into colour grading this is perfect to get you started on all the theory you need, as well as giving you some insights and practical tips on the different colour grading workflows. However, this dissertation is also useful for colourists who want to brush-up on the theory and new workflows. Furthermore, if you are a director or producer wanting to use colour grading to its full potential you will gain a deeper understanding of the process and the advantages and disadvantages of certain workflows and technologies, which will help you make the right decistion on how to use colour grading for your project.
